A Brief Guide To London’s Nightlife Hubs

London is well known for its tourist attractions, historic landmarks and beautiful parks, but what can guests of the Queens Park Hotel London do at nighttime?

Whether you’re a fan of dance music, live bands or late night comedy, there’s always something that will draw your eye on an evening out in London. A lot of the time, these iconic venues are concentrated in specific areas around the city, making it much easier to laugh, dance and sing the night away. This blog will explore some of the best spots for first time Londoners to enjoy a night out in the city, expect to need a big Bayswater breakfast the next morning!

Soho

Starting central, Soho may have been visited in the day but becomes a whole new beast during the evening hours. From gay bar strips to West End theatre singalongs, the neon lights of Soho sum up the centre of the city perfectly. With Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus Station nearby, Soho is easy to reach from London hotels near tube stations.

Camden

Camden is famous for its links to musicians such as Amy Winehouse and The Clash. It still maintains its punk attitude with a plethora of alternative music venues lined along its high street and canalside strips. Camden is also home to a variety of great pubs and comedy venues, making it another well-rounded, if not slightly wild nightlife hub.

Dalston

Dalston is just an Overground ride away for guests of hotels in London with parking and is famed for its grass roots live music venues that cover many genres. Alongside its music scene, Dalston is famous for its Turkish restaurants and the off-West End Arcola Theatre. Music venues to watch out for in this East London strip include Cafe OTO, EartH Hackney and Vortex Jazz Club.

Brixton

Famed for its links to Black-British protest movements, the community feel of Brixton, paired with big and small music venues makes it a must for reggae, rap and jazz lovers. The Brixton music scene is eclectic, and you can expect to find several different shows along Brixton Road every night of the week. Brixton is easy to reach via the Victoria Line.

Shoreditch

Famed for its Victorian history of Jack The Ripper, Shoreditch has kept much of its Victorian rowdiness but is a much safer environment to dance the night away. Shoreditch is teeming with clubs and bars, and its late night curry houses along Brick Lane never disappoint. You can reach Shoreditch via the Overground Line.

Islington

Less known for its clubbing spots but more so for its selection of world-renowned restaurants and fringe theatres above traditional London pubs, Islington is for those wanting a more refined evening out. This North London nightlife spot is also home to the famous Union Chapel music venue, making for a well-rounded area for night owls. Your best tube stations for Islington are Highbury & Islington on the Overground and Victoria Line and Angel on the Northern Line.
